A leading construction firm that has grown in different parts of the US like Florida, North Carolina, TX, etc. Their expertise as a general contractor, construction manager, and design-build contractor spans almost every major industry throughout the Southeast, including the education, healthcare, hospitality, office, retail, multi-family residential, industrial, and religious building sectors.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently looking for an Estimator with 3-7 years of experience in the healthcare domain/industry. This position is responsible for completing estimates on time in a professional and competitive manner. Estimates are accurate and consider risk factors and construction methods. This position helps create a positive company image with clients, potential clients, vendors, and subcontractors. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or as necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Must Have:
- Stable work history with more than 3 years in a company at a time.
- Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work; prices work items
- Reviews design options and recommends the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
- Participates in project hand-off meetings; attends meetings with suppliers and subs as needed
- Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity, analysis reports, etc. into the unit and man hour figures
- Reviews terms and conditions of subcontractor and vendor quotes; serves as liaison with subcontractors and vendors during the bidding process
- Reviews proposal specifications, drawings and attends pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate

- Sets up budgets
- Participates in presentations to clients (if required)
- Reviews all pricing with the Chief Estimator
- Uses historical unit price and productivity data
- Visits project sites to observe construction methods
- Determines critical path schedule and sequence of work
- Investigates site before bid, identifying waste area, borrow area and dumpsites
- Must be willing to travel
- Investigates value engineering options
